Why not make us your church home!

Welcome! Thank you for visiting our new and improved website. Our church hopes that as we continue to add material you will find this website to be a helpful resource to you. In the very near future you will be able to enjoy reading our blogs from both me and our missions coordinator.

My blog will contain additional thoughts from sermons preached and lessons taught in our worship services, our Sunday schools, and our Sunday night teaching times. My blog will also offer short inspiring devotionals that hopefully will be thought provoking and insightful. In addition, our website will provide vital links to resource material that will either give you more background information or will help you to mature deeply in Christ.

Our calendar of events is here for you to browse and see if there is an event you and your family would like to attend. Please note that you and your family are always welcomed at our church. You will notice that we are a church that not only studies and prays, but we love to enjoy each other’s fellowship, too. And, as you will see by our calendar, although we are a small church we are a very busy church, too!

But you may be wondering, what is Sandy Church of the Nazarene like? We are a church that firmly believes in the Word of God. We believe that the Bible not only contains all that is necessary for salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord, but that the Bible contains all that is necessary to live God-honoring lives free from the control of sin through the indwelling presence of His Holy Spirit in the believer’s life. To see what we believe in greater detail, click on our Statement of Beliefs.

Our church services are a mixture of both traditional and contemporary. We sing many, but not all, of the various modern praise choruses. We also sing the time-tested hymns of the church as well. Our thinking is that today’s church is only part of the ongoing story of God’s Church in the world, starting at Pentecost and continuing until Christ returns. We honor that continuity by singing from both the old and the new.

Our services are bathed in prayer from beginning to end. We even have a time in each morning service where if believers wish, they can come down to our altar and through prayer lift their requests or give their thanksgivings to God.

Our morning services also include a call to worship which almost always comes appropriately from the Psalms. We also have both Old and New Testament Scripture readings. The sermons that are preached are centered strongly in the Word of God.

Our Sunday schools are age-based and again center on instructing our people on the Word of God. Our Sunday schools also provide heart-warming times of fellowship as we strengthen our friendships and commitments to one another. Our Sunday night teaching times give us an extended opportunity to look deeply into God’s Word and to see how it applies not only in our individual lives, but in our outreach to the community, too. Our Sunday night times are a good way to end the Lord’s Day. Our Wednesday night prayer services are just that – times of prayer. Well, we also sing a little, too, after lifting our families, our church, and the Sandy and Boring communities up in prayer.

In these crazy times, you may want to know what you will NOT find in our services, too. So, you will not find incorporated into our services movie clips and dramas/skits aimed at entertainment rather than worship. You will not find loud music and music that closely resembles the sound of secular music. You won’t find stunts, acrobats, spoofs of TV series and other gimmicks that some churches use today. And you will never have to worry that the content of my sermons will be questionable for families with young children. We proudly proclaim the full gospel of Jesus Christ, both the popular and the not-so-popular parts. We are neither a purpose-driven church nor a Willow Creek Association church. And perhaps most importantly, Sandy Church of the Nazarene is NOT part of the Emerging Church movement.

If this sounds like a church environment you have been seeking for in a long time, come visit us. We think you will be pleasantly surprised.
